Ke Nani Kai Resort Condominiums are located on the West End of Molokai, adjacent to the Kaluakoi Golf Resort and the areas many beaches. The resort consists of 120 individually owned condominiums on 14 landscaped acres, a large pool, heated whirlpool spa, 2 championship tennis courts and built-in BBQ's with picnic areas. Our 1,000 square foot (includes lanai) vacation rental one-bedroom condo, unit #115 is located overlooking the 8th fairway of the Kaluakoi Golf Course with views of Pãpõhaku Beach (3 mile beach), Kepuhi Bay, unspoiled terrain and those famous Hawaiian Sunsets. This downstairs unit offers one of the best views in Ke Nani Kai. These views can be enjoyed from the lanai, kitchen, living room/dining room or the bedroom while standing, sitting or stretching out! Our condo has been completely refurbished and includes FREE wireless internet access as well as digital TV and music channels. The kitchen has beautiful solid granite countertops and a reverse osmosis filtered drinking water system. All major kitchen appliances are new and include a glass top stove, quiet dishwasher, large microwave and a refrigerator with a built-in icemaker. A full-size washer/dryer is also right in your unit.In the bedroom, there is a beautiful cane headboard and footboard with a Serta Perfect Sleeper queen size mattress. This mattress is so comfortable that if someone tosses and turns all night, the other person never knows it! And, if you leave your drapes open at night, you will wake up to the sight of Kepuhi Bay and the moon setting! Our unit is abundantly and beautifully furnished with all of the comforts of home. In addition to all linens and pool/beach towels, our unit is fully stocked with enough trash bags, hand dishwashing soap, dishwasher detergent, cleaning supplies, ziplock baggies, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, paper napkins, paper plates, plastic silverware for picnics, coffee filters, cooking spray, spices, sugar and Sweet & Low, ketchup, mustard & mayonaise for your entire stay. We also provide liquid hand soap for the kitchen and bath as well as liquid soap for the shower. Because most of these items are not normally provided in a vacation rental, we ask each guest to replace any items that runs out for the next guest. You will find a small supply of toilet paper and paper towels. We do not supply laundry products. All of these items are included in the cost of your rental at no extra charge! Check-In is 3:00pm Check-Out is 10:00 a.m. Please make sure that you allow a minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes in between flights in (HNL) Honolulu so that your baggage can be checked all the way through to Molokai (MKK). Minimum connecting time is 30 minutes for flights connectiong thru (OGG) Kahalui, Maui connections. The Molokai Airport (airport code MKK) is serviced throughout the day by Island Air** 800-652-6541 from Honolulu (HNL) and Kahalui-Maui (OGG) with Dash-7 aircraft (holds about 36 passengers). Booking online at their website will get you the best rate. Their baggage limit is 2 pieces per person with a 50 lb combined maximum for both pieces. Pacific Wings 888-575-4546 is now flying up to10 flights a day between Honolulu and Molokai for just $38.90 each way. They fly twin engines Cessnas that hold 9 passengers. Their baggage allowance is 2 pieces per person at 50 lbs maximum per bag. They also fly to Molokai from Maui (OGG) 4 times per day to/from Kalaupapa (Father Damien Colony) from MKK Go! Express 888-435-9462 is also servicing Molokai from Honolulu with 3 to 4 flights daily with fares as low as $34.90 each way. They also fly smaller (9 passenger) aircraft and their baggage allowance is at 50 lbs per bag with 2 pieces checked per person. Molokai Air Shuttle suspended service in early April 2007. George's Aviation operates from Honolulu and Molokai ($70.00 OW/$105.00 RT) and from Maui ($95 OW/$$170 RT). They
can be reached at 866-834-2120 or 808-553-8554. A SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING YOUR CHECKED BAGGAGE ON YOUR DEPARTURE FROM MOLOKAI: In order for your baggage to be checked beyond Honolulu to the mainland, they must be inspected by a State of Hawaii agricultural inspection agent. While they do operate on Molokai, their hours are limited to the following hours:
I have been told that if you are departing on an afternoon or evening flight, that you can bring your checked baggage to the airport and have it checked in early while the agricultural agents are still on duty. They will then be checked through to your final destination on the mainland on your later flight. This saves you the hassel of claiming them in Honolulu and dragging them over to your mainland carrier. Of course, you have to break up your day to do this. If you want your baggage checked to your final destination, the best thing to do would be to plan your departure flight around the hours of operation. Ferry Service The island of Molokai is also serviced by a 100 foot, 149 passenger ferry from Maui. The "Molokai Princess" leaves daily from the Lahaina Harbor (Pier #3) daily at 7:15am and at 6:00pm. It takes 90 minutes to Molokai and is approximately $40 each way. It arrives on the Molokai's southern shores at Kaunakakai Harbor. The return times depart Molokai at 5:30am and at 4:00pm. Whales are often spotted during the cruise. If you fly in to Maui, you will have to get transportation to Lahaina. It is about 45 minutes by taxi. I have heard of a shuttle from Lahaina to the Kmart in Kahului for $3.00. I was told that it runs every 90 minutes. Kmart is about 1 mile from the airport. However, with the airfares so low right now....why take the ferry? Plus, the flight from Maui to Molokai is very spectactular. You will see the sea cliffs of Molokai's north shore...which are the tallest in the world! They can be contacted at 866-440-6284. If you have never been to Molokai, you will need a car to see the island and to get around. Distances are long and there isn't any public transportation. If you plan to golf or beach it everyday, by all means, just use a taxi or shuttle (see below). Otherwise, you will need to rent a car. Cars on the island can sell out in advance due to large funtions, i.e. weddings, reunions, etc. Be sure to plan accordingly. Budget® and Dollar® are located at the airport and are the only major car rental companies on the island. You can contact Doug Harms, Station Manager for Budget on Molokai directly. Tell him that you are calling/emailing from this website and he will give you his best rate. (Be sure to read below for other discounts for comparisons.) Doug's phone is (808) 567-6877 - email is budget@aloha.net. Please allow 48 hours for a response by email. The best time to call them directly is between 10:30am and 12:00 noon Hawaii time. If the answer machine comes on, they are busy, please leave them a clear message with your phone number and they will call you back within 24 hours. You can also contact Dollar direct for their local rates at the airport by calling 808-567-6156 Kami from San Diego just told me about these discount sources for car rentals. This part of Molokai was made famous by Father Damien, a Belgian priest who came to the settlement in 1873 to help those stricken by the disease. The disease was brought under control by sulfone drugs in the 1940's. Today, fewer than 30 people remain in Kalaupapa and they are free to come and go as they please. The tour at Kalaupapa takes a maximum of 30 participants. It operates everyday except on Sunday. It is an all day tour. If you fly or walk in - you must bring your own lunch. You may want to book this trip prior to your arrival. The mule trip is memorable but the plane ride is faster, easier and cheaper! DAMIEN TOURS: 808-567-6171 – call for Kalaupapa tour reservations 7-9 am or 5-7 pm. $40 per person for tour only (if you walk in or fly in). For flight reservations, contact Pacific Wings at 888-575-4546. (Bring a book to read--you may have to wait for the hikers and the mule riders before your tour will begin.) MOLOKAI

We did the trip to Moomoomi in May of 2004 . It was fabulous and well worth the suggested $25 donation per person. They use their 4-wheel drive vehicles to take you to their destinations and provide an indepth lecture of the surroundings. Plan to bring your own sack lunch. And, be sure to reserve early. They only take a handful of people and the spots fill up early. We also had the opportunity to visit the Kamakou Preserve (Molokai's rain forest) in October of 2004 and September of 2007. It was an experience of a lifetime! Again, they use their 4-wheel drive vehicles to take you to the preserve via a 10 mile dirt, mud and rock road! It's almost like a Disneyland ride! Then, you'll walk approximately 1 1/2 miles on 2 x 8 wooden planks (wrapped in metal mesh to keep you from slipping) through the rainforest. In addition to all of that beauty, you will come to the end where you'll enjoy your home packed sack lunch high in the mountains at the Pelekuna lookout. It is like lunching in heaven! The lookout is spectacular! Words cannot describe it. You just have to do it!

East End The only place to buy groceries at this end of the island is at the Mana'e Goods & Grindz, 808-558-8186 at Milepost 13. It’s a small market with a “fast food” mini-take out restaurant. Good (and only) stopover place if you are going or coming from the east end. They are open 8am to 5pm daily.
